When you use Chrome, Google Password Manager saves your passwords for different sites.

You can save your passwords with Google Password Manager in many ways:

  • Save passwords to your Google Account: When you're signed in to Chrome, you can save your passwords to your Google Account and use them across your devices and in some apps.
  • Save passwords to your device: When you're not signed in to Chrome, it stores passwords locally on your device. This is helpful if you don't want to save passwords to your Google Account or share them across multiple devices.
  • Import passwords from your device to your Google Account: You can always import passwords saved on your device to your Google Account. Learn how to import passwords with Chrome.

You can manage passwords saved to your Google Account in Chrome or any other web browser at passwords.google.com.

You can manage your saved passwords in Google Chrome using its built-in Password Manager.

To begin, open Chrome and tap the three-dot menu. Then go to Settings and tap Passwords.

You will see a list of saved accounts. You can scroll through the list or use the search bar to find a specific website.

To view a password, tap the entry. Your device will ask you to verify your identity using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. After verification, you can see the password.

To edit a password, tap the entry, update the username or password, then save your changes.

To delete a password, open the entry and tap Delete.

Chrome also includes a Check passwords feature. This scans your saved credentials and alerts you if any are weak, reused, or exposed in known data breaches.

Make sure Save Passwords and Auto Sign-In are enabled if you want Chrome to store and fill your login details automatically.

Manage password change alerts

You may get an alert from Chrome if you use a password and username combination that has been compromised in a data leak on a third-party website or app. Compromised password and username combinations are unsafe because they've been published online.

We recommend that you change any compromised passwords as soon as you can. You can follow the instructions in Chrome to change your password on the site where you've used that password, and check your saved passwords for any other site where the password may be saved.

Chrome makes sure that your passwords and username are protected so that they can’t be read by Google.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Privacy and Security.
  3. Tap Safe Browsing and then Standard Protection .
  4. Turn Warn You If Passwords Are Exposed in a Data Breach on or off.
