You can change the default search engine in Google Chrome on your iPhone or iPad, but site search shortcuts are not supported like they are on a computer.

To set your default search engine, open Chrome and tap the three-dot menu. Then go to Settings and tap Search Engine.

You will see a list of available options such as Google Search, Bing, or DuckDuckGo. Tap your preferred search engine, and Chrome will use it for all searches from the address bar.

However, Chrome on iPhone and iPad does not support custom site search shortcuts (for example, typing a keyword to search a specific website). This feature is only available on the desktop version of Chrome.

As a workaround, you can bookmark specific search pages or add them to your Home Screen. Open the site in Chrome, tap the share icon, and select Add to Home Screen. This gives you quick access to that site’s search function.

In summary, Chrome on iPhone and iPad allows you to choose a default search engine easily, but advanced features like site search shortcuts are limited to desktop devices.

Set your default search engine

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings Settings and then Search engine.
  3. Select the search engine that you want to use.
    • Your recently visited search engines are added as options.
