You can customize both the homepage and start-up behavior in Google Chrome to control what opens when you launch the browser or click the home button.

To set your homepage, open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner. Then go to Settings and find the Appearance section. Turn on the Show Home button option. Once enabled, you can choose between using the New Tab page or entering a custom website URL. If you enter a URL, that page will open whenever you click the home icon in Chrome.

To set your start-up page, stay in Settings and scroll to the On startup section. Here, you have three options. You can choose Open the New Tab page, Continue where you left off, or Open a specific set of pages.

If you select Open a specific set of pages, click Add a new page and enter the website address you want. You can add multiple pages, and Chrome will open all of them automatically each time you start the browser.

If you want Chrome to restore your previous session, choose Continue where you left off. This will reopen all tabs that were active when you last closed the browser.

You can control which page or pages appear when you launch Chrome on your computer.

  2. At the top right, select profile Profile.
  3. Under 'Other Chrome profiles', select Manage Chrome profile .

Problems with your startup or homepage

If you're on a computer and you find a homepage or startup page that you didn't set yourself, your computer may have malware. Learn how to remove unwanted ads, pop-ups and malware.

Important: If you're a Chromebook user and you use it at work or school, you can’t choose or change your startup page or homepage. Your network administrator controls those pages. For more help, contact your administrator.

Choose your homepage

You can control what page appears when you select Home Home.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More More and then Settings.
  3. Under 'Appearance', turn on Show Home button.
  4. Under 'Show Home button', choose to use the New tab page or a custom page

Tip: On the left of your address bar, you can find Home Home.

These settings help you personalize your browsing experience and improve efficiency, especially if you frequently visit the same websites.

In summary, Chrome allows you to control both the homepage and start-up pages through its settings, making it easier to access your preferred content as soon as you open the browser.
