You can use Shopping Insights and price tracking in Google Chrome to monitor product prices and make better purchasing decisions.

When you search for a product in Chrome, especially through Google Search, you may see Shopping Insights. These insights show useful information such as whether the current price is high, typical, or low based on historical data.

To use price tracking, open a product page or search results for an item. If the feature is available, Chrome may display a Track price option (often shown as a bell icon or toggle).

Click Track price to start monitoring that item. Chrome will then track price changes over time and notify you if the price drops. Notifications may appear in Chrome or be sent to your email if you are signed in.

You can manage tracked items by going to Chrome’s bookmarks or shopping section (depending on your version). Some tracked products may appear in your Bookmarks bar or within a shopping collection.

To ensure this works properly, make sure you are signed in to Chrome and have sync enabled. This allows Chrome to track items across devices.

To use the price tracking, insights features and receive notifications, you must:

Get price and Shopping Insights

With 'Shopping Insights' in Chrome, you can find the price history and price range for products, including products with variants, like different colours or storage capacity, across the web.

Track price on a product page

You can track price changes of a product that you want to buy.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to the page of the product that you want to track.
  3. In the address bar, at the top right, select Bookmark Bookmark this page.
    • Trackable products are saved to your Shopping list folder by default.
    • Track price is on by default for trackable products.
  4. In the confirmation box, select Done.
Manage price tracking with Shopping list

You can find product prices and any price drops in the Shopping list under 'Bookmarks'.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. On the right, select More  and then Bookmarks and lists and then Show all bookmarks.
  3. Select Shopping list.
  4. Choose the product that you want to check.
    • To untrack a product: Select More  and then Untrack price.
    • To delete a product from your Shopping list: Select More  and then Delete.

Tips:

  • Notifications about price tracking include multiple sellers. When you track a product, the price and image from that site are available in the Shopping list.
  • If you untrack a product, it'll appear in the Shopping list unless you delete the product.
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, select More More and then Settings and then Google services.
  3. Under 'Other Google services', turn Get price tracking notifications on or off.

Tips:

  • You can track a product without email opt-in.
  • You can turn off email notifications about price tracking with the 'Unsubscribe here' link in each email.

Find a discount badge

A discount badge automatically shows on a product page with eligible discounts.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to the page of the product that you're interested in.
  3. If a discount is available, in the address bar, at the top right, select Discount  and then Copy the code.
  4. Use the discount code at checkout by the valid date.
    • If no expiry date is provided, the discount code is only valid for 24 hours.
