BTCM was reported as an alleged Bitcoin mining investment scheme that targeted Kenyans with promises of exceptionally high returns. According to reports, participants could invest amounts ranging from about KSh 600 to KSh 266,000 to supposedly purchase cryptocurrency mining equipment or packages linked to Bitcoin mining activities.
The platform allegedly promised returns of between 188% and 350% within very short periods, while many participants were introduced to the scheme through friends, relatives, and other existing members. Reports indicate that the platform later demanded an additional one-time payment from users before becoming inaccessible in June 2024, leaving many participants unable to recover their funds.
The claims concerning BTCM are based on investor reports and should be treated as allegations unless independently verified or established through the appropriate legal or regulatory process. Members of the public are advised to exercise extreme caution with cryptocurrency schemes promising unusually high or rapid returns and to verify investment providers with relevant regulators before transferring money.
