CBEX, also referred to as CryptoBridge Exchange, was reported as an alleged Ponzi-style cryptocurrency investment scheme that attracted investors with promises of returns of up to 100% per month. According to reports, the platform claimed to generate profits through AI-powered cryptocurrency trading and drew participants from several countries, including Kenya and Nigeria.
The scheme reportedly collapsed in April 2025, leaving many investors unable to recover their funds and causing substantial financial losses. Nigerian authorities, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, were reported to have arrested suspects and issued warrants connected to the investigation, while four Kenyan nationals were also reportedly sought in relation to the case.
Kenya’s Capital Markets Authority was also reported to have issued an investor alert concerning CBEX, while international law-enforcement agencies were said to have become involved in investigations. The claims concerning CBEX and individuals linked to it should be understood in the context of regulatory warnings, investigations, and court processes, and should not be treated as final findings of guilt unless established by a competent court.
