A social media contact was reported for an alleged rental scam involving a bedsitter advertised as available for occupation. According to the complainant, the contact claimed to know of a vacant bedsitter and provided a phone number said to belong to the property’s caretaker.
The complainant says they contacted the supposed caretaker and were asked to pay half of the required rent or deposit upfront to reserve the bedsitter. Believing the arrangement to be genuine, they reportedly sent KSh 2,000 to the contact provided.
After the payment was made, the complainant alleges that the contact stopped answering calls and could no longer be reached. The account remains an allegation based on the complainant’s report and should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing unless independently verified or established through the appropriate legal process.
