Ulundu Patrick Lumumba was convicted over a fake tantalum minerals deal that defrauded a Chinese investor. Investigators said he orchestrated shipments in which containers of sand were falsely declared as tantalum consignments and used multiple aliases while operating the scheme. The fraud was uncovered after a container opened overseas was found to contain drums filled with sand instead of the valuable mineral.
