Brian Reeves Obare was presented in court over allegations that he posed as an official connected to the Canadian Embassy in a visa scam targeting young people seeking employment opportunities abroad. Prosecutors alleged that he presented himself as capable of facilitating legitimate Canadian visas for prospective travellers.
A director of Golden Key Travel Consultants Limited testified that the company sent Obare money collected from clients after believing that he could process valid Canadian travel documents. According to the testimony presented in court, the payments were made as part of arrangements intended to help clients travel to Canada for employment opportunities.
The court further heard that some of the affected clients were later arrested at airports, stopped while in transit, or deported after authorities reportedly found problems with their visas. Some documents were said to have been crossed out and declared invalid. The allegations remain subject to the court process, and Obare should be regarded as accused unless and until proven guilty.
