County Government Bursary Scam was reported as an alleged fraud scheme involving fake online portals designed to imitate legitimate county government bursary application platforms. According to the reports, the sites targeted students and families seeking financial assistance for education.
Applicants were allegedly asked to pay between KSh 1,000 and KSh 3,000 as supposed “application fees” before their bursary requests could be processed. In contrast, legitimate county bursary applications are generally made through official county channels, including ward administrators, and do not require such payments.
Several county governments reportedly issued public warnings about the fake bursary portals and advised residents to use only verified government channels. Students and parents are encouraged to confirm bursary information directly with their county government before submitting personal details or making any payment.
