First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Ltd was named in reports among recruitment agencies blacklisted by Kenya’s Ministry of Labour following complaints involving promised overseas employment opportunities. According to the reports, directors Judy Jepchirchir and Faith Wariga Gichuhi were linked to recruitment drives in which more than 1,000 Kenyans were allegedly promised jobs abroad that ultimately did not materialize.
More than 200 young people in Uasin Gishu were among those who reportedly accused the agency of promising them employment opportunities connected to the Qatar World Cup. The affected applicants alleged that they committed money and made preparations based on assurances that overseas jobs would be secured, only for the promised placements to fail to materialize.
The directors were subsequently reported to have been barred from registering or operating recruitment firms in Kenya. The claims concerning First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Ltd and the individuals associated with it should be understood in the context of government action, complainant reports, and any related legal proceedings, and should not automatically be treated as final findings of criminal guilt unless established by a court.
